When it comes to shopping for contacts online, it can be confusing to figure out where is the best place to buy contacts online. You want to make sure you get the lowest price while not compromising on customer service or fast shipping, right?
I am going to list the best places to shop for contact lenses so you can see how they all stack up!
First and foremost, most people want to get cheap contacts. And by cheap we mean to get the best price possible. At the end of the day, contact lenses are commodities. This means that if you are shopping for some Acuvue Oasys 1-Day with HydraLuxe, you’ll get an identical product regardless of where you buy it.
Which Online Contact Stores Have The Lowest Prices?
There are 4 online contact lens stores that stood out from the rest of the competition, and they are AC Lens.com, Coastal.com, DiscountContactLenses.com, and LensDirect.com. Here’s the methodology we used to determine the results!
If you’ve spent any time on our price comparison page, you know that we keep track of contact lens prices across many different websites. This allows us to observe trends and see which stores change their prices the most often, which tend to keep their prices low, and which consistently charge the highest prices.
To see which store had the lowest prices, I calculated the Average Price Rank for each online store. The Average Price Rank was calculated by aggregating the prices for each available contact lens which was sold by multiple online stores. Each store was ranked from first to last for each individual product. A score of 1 reflected the lowest-priced store, while a score of 9 was given to the store with the highest price for that product. In total, 164 different products were analyzed. The scores for each product were then averaged to give each online retailer their Average Price Rank.
An Average Price Rank of 1.0 means that, on average, a store always offers the lowest price available. A rank of 9 means that, on average, they offer the highest price.
I also looked at how often a store offered the lowest price for a contact lens, by analyzing the % of their products that were ranked the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd lowest in price available. A ‘% Items At Lowest Price‘ of 49% means that a store has the lowest price available for 49% of its products analyzed. In other words, for roughly half of their products, you won’t find a lower price among the set we analyzed.
Finally, I looked at how often a site was amongst the 3 lowest priced for the contact lenses they carry. A score of 94% for ‘% Items At 3 Lowest Prices‘ refers to the fact that for 94% of their contact lenses, a website is among the 3 lowest priced sites.
Here are the full results:
Cheapest Contact Lens Websites
|Rank||Website||Average Price Rank *||% Items At Lowest Price**||% Items At 3 Lowest Prices**|
* An Average Price Rank of 1 means that a store had, on average, the cheapest price available among the stores analyzed.
** For all products sold at 2 or more stores analyzed.
As you can see, AC Lens was the clear winner for all three price metrics!
